I tried this recipe last week in an attempt to consume bananas. You might have read my little rant in my previous blogpost about how I can’t stand them. But I had an extra after trying a banana pancake recipe and just happened to have bought Starbucks Via instant coffee a long time ago when it was on sale, so I thought why not?
The downsides to this recipe is one serving is 302 calories and 44 grams of carbs (because of the banana). The upsides are the 22 grams of protein and the fact that it’s delicious. All I could taste was chocolatey coffee goodness. The banana made it just like an ice cream milkshake.
I would say that if you’re counting carbs ( I try to stay under 65 grams per day), I wouldn’t have this every day. You could, but then you would have to really pay attention to your carb content the rest of the day. But if you’re feeling like ice cream, whip up this instead.
Coffee Banana Protein Shake
Recipe from Sweet Tooth Sweet Life
1 packet of Starbucks Via ready brew (I used vanilla flavored)
1/2 cup vanilla almond milk (I use the unsweetened from Trader Joe’s)
1 frozen banana
1 scoop chocolate whey protein (I used Gold Standard Double Chocolate)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp of sweetener (I used Splenda…I know I know. It was all I had at the time….)
3 large ice cubes

I use Truvia and I love it. I also sometimes use Stevia. I’ve done the same thing with a frozen banana…lesson learned!
By the way..it’s Erin from http://www.livelifeactive.com. For some reason it won’t let me link my name to comment on your blog. It may be a blogspot thing…
