Things I love fridayHappy Friday! It has been a long but awesome week. This past Monday I started a new job. (YAY!) Loving it so far. The only hard part is I have to leave the house at 6am to drive to work.

Let me just say I’ve been super embarrassed all week by my constant yawning. It’s been a bit of a transition from waking up at 9am these past few months. But hopefully that will go away next week as I figure out my sleeping schedule. Side note: going to bed earlier is not the answer. Tried that yesterday and woke up at 3am…

Anyway, because I’m still figure out the changes in my life, I haven’t had a chance to cook anything more complicated than eggs. Which is why I haven’t written a post since last Tuesday. But in an effort to keep sharing, here is a very quick “Things I Love Friday.”

Have I mentioned I bought a FitBit? If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you’re probably sick of me talking about it. But I have been loving it. So has Jake.

You see, it has a vibrating alarm. So when I wake up at 5am, it only wakes me up and not him.

At some point I’ll probably do a full review on it. But for now, check out Holly’s review. It’s what convinced me to finally purchase one. And if you’re thinking about it, check out the burgundy color. When I bought it, it was $20 cheaper than the black.

hamilton beach food processor

Something else I’ve purchased lately: a Hamilton Beach 10-cup food processor. I’ve been wanting a new food processor for a while. Discovered this one on clearance for $30 at Target just because the box was in Spanish. Although currently it’s only $38 on Amazon. This new gadget has made a world of difference for my cauliflower rice.

real pasture-raised eggs

Remember how I said I haven’t cooked anything more complicated than eggs? Well this week Jake purchased 4 dozen eggs from a friend of his who owns about 30 chickens.

In my last post I compared pasture-raised, free-range and factory-farmed eggs. Originally I said I couldn’t tell a difference in taste. But that definitely changed with these. The only way I can describe them is rich.

salad and turkey chili

Instead of cooking, I’ve been enjoying the cafeteria at work. This has been my go-to lunch all week. Spinach salad with olives, cherry tomatoes, artichoke hearts, red onions, a tiny bit of parmesan cheese with balsamic vinegar. And a small cup of turkey chili. The chili is phenomenal. I wish I could figure out their recipe. Although part of me is scared it’s tasty because it has something bad in it.

checkered lunch box by Fit-Fresh

Eventually I will start bringing my lunch. And look how cute my lunchbox is! Found it on clearance for $10 at TJ Maxx. The brand is Fit-Fresh and it came with two small Tupperware containers. I can’t find this exact one online but they have a number of cute options on their website and on Amazon.

Alright that’s it for now. I promise I’ll get better at posting soon. Just need a nap first…
