Alright guys, I have a confession. I had been planning on doing a Whole30. Well…really a Whole15. Because I turn 31 next week (on September 21st) and I fully plan on eating whatever I want and having a glass of wine. So I knew I wouldn’t be able to do the full 30 days. But I quickly realized after 24 hours that I wasn’t even going to last a day Whole30 style.
Why? Because I didn’t want to give up rice. Or protein powder. Or the sugar-free syrup I bought for my coffee (seriously salted caramel from Home Goods is the bomb). And if you haven’t done a Whole30 before, my guess is you’ve said something similar. You would totally do a Whole30 but you just can’t give up cheese or toast or wine. And in the past, I use to actually shake my head at people when they said that. Because in my mind, no food is important enough to stand in the way of you finding out if a diet change will change your life.
But now I get it. If you’re not ready to give up certain foods, that’s OK. Everyone has different priorities. Everyone moves at their own pace. And if cheese is really important to you, or milk in your coffee is really important to you, or avocado toast is really important to you than who am to judge?
In order to have a successful Whole30, you need to have a reason why you want to do it that’s so important, no food will stand in your way. Maybe it’s Fibromyalgia pain. Maybe it’s IBS or migraines that won’t go away no matter what medication you take. Maybe it’s finally losing the 50+ lbs that you put on from eating candy bars every day at 3pm. The reason itself isn’t important, as long as it’s important to YOU.
OK so what now? Well I’ll still be making videos about eating gluten and dairy free (and soy free). I still want to make motivational videos, especially about starting healthy habits.
